Background of the Study: Employee retention is one of the key challenges facing organizations across various industries, especially in healthcare. In Jigawa State, where healthcare firms are grappling with challenges related to resource constraints, understaffing, and high turnover rates, effective employee retention strategies are essential for maintaining a stable workforce and ensuring consistent service delivery (Tukur & Lawal, 2024). Healthcare organizations depend on skilled and experienced personnel to provide quality care, and high turnover can negatively impact the quality of services provided to the public (Fola & Musa, 2023).
Employee retention strategies can include competitive compensation, career development programs, work-life balance initiatives, and fostering a positive organizational culture (Olaniyan & Akinbode, 2023). In Jigawa State, healthcare organizations are increasingly recognizing the importance of these strategies, as turnover rates in the sector are high, resulting in increased recruitment and training costs (Sani & Jibril, 2023). The implementation of effective retention strategies can have significant positive effects on employee morale, job satisfaction, and organizational performance, including improved patient outcomes, reduced operational costs, and enhanced organizational stability (Nwachukwu & Oyebade, 2024).
This study aims to critically analyze the employee retention strategies employed by healthcare firms in Jigawa State and assess their impact on organizational performance, particularly in terms of service delivery, employee engagement, and organizational efficiency.
